Established
in 1989, The Neil Clugston Organisation Pty Ltd (NCO) is an Entertainment
Management and Entertainment Consultancy company. With a diverse background
in entertainment marketing, the company's proprietor Neil
Clugston, can claim a rare achievement: having worked on the marketing,
promotions and publicity for the biggest selling Australian record - John
Farnham's WHISPERING JACK and the Australian publicity and
promotions of the biggest grossing film anywhere - TITANIC.
Coming from
a background
in advertising, Clugston joined RCA/BMG records in 1980 and went on to
become at that time the youngest National Promotions and Publicity Manager
ever appointed in Australia.
He
spearheaded the local launch of international acts like EURYTHMICS, WHITNEY
HOUSTON and KENNY G and worked with local artists such as REAL LIFE, JOHN
FARNHAM, AUSTRALIAN CRAWL, HOODOO GURUS and DRAGON. In mid 1989, together
with the late MARC HUNTER, he helped form the TURN BACK THE TIDE movement
to fight water pollution and clean up Sydney's beaches. The
resultant event was one of the largest outdoor concerts ever staged in
Australia, attracting an estimated audience of 250,000 people to Bondi
Beach and resulting in a series of new government initiatives.
NCO's
first Management client was the Australian music group GIRL OVERBOARD.
The band toured extensively
on the back of a gold debut album and even secured a supported US single
release. On the publicity side, the company's clients have included the
Australian Music Awards (AMA's), Waterfront Entertainment Group, the phenomenally successful pop/dance
group GIRLFRIEND and publicity for a number of major record companies
including EMI/Virgin,
BMG & MCA/Universal
as well as
several successful local actors including
Deborah Lee-Furness, Marcus Graham and Cameron Daddo.
 Through
the consultancy wing of the company: 1996/97 saw Clugston revisit the
music business as Vice-President, Media
for BMG Australia. He
joined the film industry for 1998 as
Senior Manager, National Publicity & Promotions for Twentieth
Century Fox Film Distributors where he
worked on titles
including TITANIC,
THE FULL MONTY, THE X-FILES MOVIE and STAR WARS EP I.
In
1999 NCO joined with Dainty Consolidated Entertainment as Associate
Producers and presented HAPPY DAYS - THE ARENA MEGA MUSICAL which played
to more than 150,000
people across Australia. The show was the first musical to play Sydney's
new 25,000 seat Superdome, constructed for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
NCO provides full
personal management services for Actors Presenters, Musicians and Celebrities.
With a very select roster of talent (small by comparison to most Agencies)
NCO is able to deliver a more focused and personal approach to the representation
of
its clients and their individual career needs and development. While
traditional Management
Companies and Agents generally operate best in specific areas of the entertainment
business and have limited expertise in others, NCO's
extensive experience across a broad spectrum of the entertainment field
(including film, music, theatre, television and Advertising) make it better
able to represent clients who also have a range of different talents and
abilities.
Now
in its 19th
year, NCO was placed in hiatus for the remainder of 2008 due to family
illness but is expected to resume operations in mid 2009.
